                      MARCH 2006 NEWSLETTER

Before I begin my newsletter I would like to take a moment to remember a very special person, Ken Davis Sr.  Ken was a major asset to the club and to our community.  Ken served many years on the Board and many years volunteering his time to the Club.  Ken sincerely cared about the people of the Greenwood Park Bells Lake Community Club and took pride in our lake, pool and swim team. A part of Ken will stay with us forever.  He will be sadly missed.

It's that time of year again, spring is around the corner!  Where did the time go?  Well, let me tell you, since the elections in September here is the scoop.  The five people that were elected to serve a three-year position on the Board of Directors are:  Frank Foran, Mark Laible, Jeff Malone, Mike Marzolf, and Mike Mercurio.  Filling the remainder of the term from which Bob Goldschmidt resigned will be Lindy Piotrowski.   The Board extends it gratitude to everyone who took part in the elections.  A special note of thanks, to Bob Goldschmidt and Rob Hoelke, for their years of dedication and hard work.  Good luck in your new endeavors and hope to see you on the lake!!

The Elected Executive Board for the 2005-2006 season: President: Frank Gervasi, Vice President: Mark Laible, Treasurer: Bob (Archie) Karcher and Secretary: Roseann Jannetti-Mankus.

Over the past six months, the first order of business was dedicated to reviewing all of the surveys that were taken at the end of the last season.  The Board felt it was time to get some feedback from the membership, hence the survey.   Every response was read by several Board Members, logged and categorized. As we reviewed the surveys we found a few consistent responses relating to the general, overall cleanliness of the park and management of the snack bar.   We are taking every effort to address each and every concern.  We were very pleased to read the tremendous amount of inspiring and supportive comments.  It always helps to know that you "the membership" do appreciate our efforts of trying to maintain the continued success of the Club.

As the other orders of business were addressed; a continuing overlapping factor was the serenity we all find in the comfort zone of the lake.  When the membership applications were sent out, a note from the President was attached as an overview as to why we felt it was necessary to charge our members an initiation fee.  Patti has been head of Lake and Dam for several years and has made great strides to get us where we are today. Enclosed is a special message from Patti concerning the dam.

Now on a much more positive note, blue water is on its way!  Concentration is being put on moving more water through the filtration system and the date for swim team sign ups is set.  Kevin Nolan will be returning as manager and Ryan will be coaching swim team once again. We are looking forward to another banner year.  The new showcases will be ready for display at the opening of the season.  Mark your calendars:  Swim team sign ups will be held April 20th in the High School Cafeteria "A" from 7-9pm.  Once again D&Q will be there with a display.

Hope to see everyone soon.  Hurry, only twelve weeks to go, so take out that bikini, get to the gym, get your base tan, find your beach chair and flip flops, get your sun block ready, grab the kids, and don't forget the most important thing, look over the great entertainment schedule so you don't miss a thing!  The schedule will be posted to the web site as everything is finalized.

See you at the club,

Roseann
